We provide nursery care for children from infants through age 3 from 8:45 AM – noon each Sunday.
Godly Play (age 3 through 1st grade)
Godly Play is a Montessori-based program in which children are told stories from the Bible using figures representing the people/animals in the story. The children are then asked to wonder about the story and respond to it in their own way. Godly Play takes part during the first half of the 9 AM service. The children begin in church with their parents. Then during the second hymn, a child recesses with a small wooden cross to lead the children to Godly Play. They come back into church to join their parents during the Peace.
Sunday School (age 3 through 12th grade)
Our Sunday School program begins at age 3 and runs through 12th grade. Sunday School takes place immediately following the 9 AM service. Preschool through 5th grade uses the curriculum “Weaving God’s Promises,” an Episcopal curriculum that focuses on stories from the Bible as well as teaching liturgical lessons on important days in the church calendar, as well as baptism and Holy Eucharist. 6th/7th grade uses Re-form Ancestors, a biblically-based curriculum. Our students spend a year in confirmation class in the 8th grade. The high school students also use Re-form; however, their curriculum focuses on how to apply their faith to the challenges they meet in their life.
We ask that all families register their child or children for 2015-2016 Sunday School by completing this form or filling in a paper copy (available at St. Peter’s) to better assist the staff and volunteers with preparation for the next instructional year.
