Pass on Faith
“[W]e will tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders he has done.” Psalm 78:4
Good morning on this crisp fall day. The yellow and orange leaves on the maple tree outside the rectory are glorious. It’s as if the light of God is shining from within the tree. I pray you have time to be outdoors today. If not, pause to look outside your window to enjoy the beauty of creation.
I invite you also to keep in your hearts the veterans who have served the United States to protect the liberties we enjoy. We will recognize veterans tomorrow at St. Peter’s at 8 and 10:15 a.m.
Tomorrow’s psalm begins with an exhortation to listen to God’s teaching and to pass faith to the next generation. We do this is so many ways at St. Peter’s: We gather for worship as an intergenerational community, teach creative lessons to our children, mentor youth, serve the larger community….and we give of our financial resources to ensure a thriving St. Peter’s for tomorrow’s generation.
Tomorrow is “In Gathering Sunday” when we celebrate your financial commitment to St. Peter’s. During worship we will bring forward our pledges and offer our God-sized dreams for St. Peter’s. What do you imagine St. Peter’s can be? What we can do best with your committed support?
If you haven’t yet pledged, you can pledge online here or complete a pledge card tomorrow. We need everyone’s support to live into God’s dream for St. Peter’s. Whether you have pledged or not, everyone will be invited to share the dream that God has placed on your hearts for St. Peter’s.
St. Peter’s depends on your financial support. The vestry is currently developing the 2024 budget and will base 2024 plans on your pledges. I am so very grateful for your generosity that makes God’s love and light more possible in this world.
And there’s more! In thanksgiving for your generosity, the Stewardship Team is sponsoring Jaliyaa Coffee Food Truck onsite tomorrow from 8:30 to 12:30 pm. A barista will brew your favorite cup of coffee, tea, or refresher in gratitude for your support.
Let us give thanks to God. We are growing together for a vital today and tomorrow!
See you tomorrow!
