It’s back-to-school time here in Northern Virginia and we’re welcoming folk back home from summer vacations with our Welcome Sunday. Come with your family and invite your friends and neighbors to this fall kick-off event. Come and have your backpacks or briefcases blessed. Connect with old friends and make new ones. Learn about ministries at Saint Peter’s, sign up for classes, and have your backpacks and briefcases blessed. Tour the infant-toddler center, Sunday School classroom, and the new Children’s Chapel.
Worship at 10:15 AM features a children’s homily, children’s music, and a special back-to-school blessing. After worship we gather for a picnic, ministry fair, pony rides, and live music. Give us a try!

11:30 Picnic with hamburgers, hot dogs and fixings.

Children's Homily

Backpack Blessings
We believe that God is with us everywhere. One way we acknowledge God’s presence is to offer blessings for backpacks and briefcases. Bring yours this Sunday and come forward for a special blessing and backpack tag to remind you of God’s love.

Hot Dogs & Burgers
We’ll have hot dogs and burgers on the grill and ice cream in the freezer. Bring a side dish to share if you can. Don’t have time to prepare a dish? No worries. We always have enough to share.

Learn about Ministries
Saint Peter’s is more than a building. It’s a people who are the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Come learn about the many ways to become involved in the life of the parish from teaching Sunday School, setting the altar, singing in the choir, packing lunches for the hungry and more.

Tour the Education Wing
Come take a look at our play-based spaces for children where we explore the story of God and God’s people together. We have an infant-toddler center and classes for kids ages 4 through grade 12. New this year is our Children’s Chapel!

Petting Zoo
Barnyard in a Backyard Festival on September 8th from 11:30am-1:00pm! 🌟Come and pet alpacas, goats, guinea pigs, and reptiles. We’ll also have pony rides!

Malarkey Band
Bring a blanket to spread on the lawn and enjoy the sounds of Arlington's favorite all-female Irish jig band! The Malarkey Band has been featured at venues such as the Celtic House and Westover Beer Garden.

Playground Fun
Let your kids creativity run wild on our playground. We’ll have bubbles, chalk, and balls for more fun and games. Take a look at our concept board as we plan for an expanded nature-based playground to come in 2025.
