Be Love
At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee. ~Mark 1:28
Grace and peace to you this Saturday evening. Last night and this morning the vestry (our leadership board) met to pray, reflect on 2023, and set strategic goals for 2024. We welcomed another 14 leaders for lunch to consider how to get started. Our conversations were filled with gratitude for the people of St. Peter’s, God’s work in our lives, and the energy and growth we have experienced over the past year.
Through conversation the Vestry rallied around “Expressing God’s Love in Community” as our overarching theme for 2024.
God’s love came to this world in the person of Jesus. The gospel of Mark tells us the impact of love incarnate — people were healed, lives were changed, and new life emerged. When love came to dwell in the neighborhood, the good news about God’s love spread like wildfire. Jesus’ fame spread.
We are a people called to be such extravagant Love in the world. Just like in Jesus’ time, when we do, people’s lives will be transformed. We will be transformed. The good news will spread.
With this theme in mind, the Vestry fashioned four strategic goals to guide St. Peter’s over the coming year. In 2024 we seek to:
Increase St. Peter’s community engagement and bring God's blessing to the community.
Strengthen parishioner participation in the life of St. Peter's.
Inspire the faith development of all parishioners with an emphasis on rising generations
Host traditional and newly created events well.
Join me and the entire vestry in committing to pursuing these goals and being a community that expresses God’s love in the community. Let us be God’s people in the world.
