Longest Night

We gather this evening, the longest night of the year (December 21) at 7 PM to offer prayers of healing for our broken world and ourselves, and prayers of gratitude for God’s blessings.

May the prayers we offer—both aloud and in the silence of our hearts—rise like sweet incense to God’s presence. May God gently heal whatever is broken in us. May God make us more faithful witnesses to the healing love and light of Christ to this broken world in which we live.

Come for song, poetry, and prayers. Walk the indoor labyrinth by candlelight. Mulled wine, cider, cheese, and crackers will be available after prayers.

May God go in front of you to show you the way.

May God go behind you to encourage you.

May God go above you to watch over you.

May God go beside you to shoulder your burdens.

May God go within you to give you peace.

May the Holy and Triune God bless you this day and always. Amen.

On this night the light begins to widen and on Christmas Day we welcome the light of the world anew. May we rejoice in God our Savior. If we do not see you this evening, see you tomorrow morning as we celebrate Advent IV.
